Joyce Marie (Baker) Grimes

Joyce Marie nee Baker Grimes passed from this world on May 11, 2020 at the Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy.

Born September 20, 1951 she was the daughter of the late Ellis Lee & Jaunita Marie nee Derix Baker.

Joyce was employed by Daughters of Charity Provincial House as a baker for over 25 years and was an active member in the Greater Catoctin Jaycees.

Her love of baking and cooking extended beyond her career, she was known to her family and friends as a phenomenal cook. She always would have something to eat for those who would stop by and was known for saying “if you leave here hungry it’s your own fault”. Joyce enjoyed a good sense of humor and appreciated a good joke and having fun.

Later in life as Joyce struggled with health issues she would always find a way to smile all the while enriching the lives of others with her own wisdom and encouragement to find success and happiness. She was indeed a thread that held her family tightly together.

Surviving are her son Steven; daughter Dona; brother Kenneth; her very special granddaughter Katie; great-granddaughter Lily; nephews Joey, Lee, Cody, Ellis;  nieces Rachel, Katherine, Beth, Lynn, Lisa, Kara, Andrea.

Joyce will also be fondly remembered by special addition to the family Martin Manahan; and dear friends Dianne, Noah, & Chloe Sinclair, Darlene Carter, Jackie Bowman Josh Portner & Tony Bentz .

My loving mother I among many will truly miss you and I ask you to keep a watchful eye on us all as you find peace.
