Helen Virginia (Zimmerman) Hargett

Helen Virginia Hargett, 85 of Frederick passed away on Friday October 12, 2018 at the Kline Hospice House in Mt Airy.

Born on October 28, 1932 in Frederick, Maryland she was the daughter of the late Monroe & Ruth nee Jones Zimmerman.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Harold C. Hargett, and sisters Doris Jean Zimmerman and Faye Elizabeth McKay.

She was an amazing cook and while everything she made was delicious, her most fondly remembered food items will be her fried chicken, potato salad, and fudge. Helen enjoyed antiques, auctions and yard sales. But most of all she cherished her time spent with her family especially her grandchildren. She was cared for by her granddaughter Jennifer for many years.

Helen will also be remembered as a former co-owner of Hargett’s Grocery Store in Mountaindale.

Surviving are her daughters Ruthann Ruffner (Thomas), Carol L. Hargett and son Harold E. Hargett (Betty),  grandchildren: Jennifer and Tom Ruffner, Jimmy, Savannah and Jacob Hargett, great-grandchildren: Dylan, Ryleah, London, Laney (Ruffner), Ian, Colin, Emma, Jake (Holler).

A graveside service for Helen & Harold will be announced at a later date.

Helen’s care has been entrusted to Black’s Funeral Home of Thurmont
