Obituary

Edith Marie nee Wood Evans, 88 of Smithsburg, Maryland and formally of Fayetteville, North Carolina passed away on July 28, 2022, at the Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.

Born October 30, 1933, in Fayetteville she was the daughter of the late Walter Lewin & Mary Verlena nee Robinson Wood.

She was employed by and retired from the Cozy Cottage of Fayetteville, where she worked as a nurse’s aide for thirty years.

Edith enjoyed word searches, creating artwork, and watching birds. She enjoyed watching Mike Huckabee on Fox.

Edith was a spiritual warrior and the glue that held the family together. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She is survived by her son Walter Evans; daughter Teresa Moreau; sister Mary Wood; grandchildren Clennie Escalante, Mary Putnam, Carolynn Jacker, Brandyn Evans, Shannon Evans; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

The family will receive friends at the Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey St. Fayetteville, on THURSDAY August 4, 2022, at 11 AM with a graveside service immediately following in the Big Rockfish Presbyterian Cemetery.
