It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Kat.

Katherin “Kat” Dee Berkstresser, 32 of Needmore, Pennsylvania passed away suddenly on February 15, 2026, at her home from injuries sustained from a house fire.

Born July 1, 1993, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of Martha Delores and the late Harold Eugene Berkstresser.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her beloved fiancé Thomas Lee Cahill and daughter Olivia Grace Cahill, both who perished along with her in the fire. She is also predeceased by her brother Robert D. Benjamin Simpson.

Kat was a vibrant, kind, generous, and endlessly giving person. She showed up for others without hesitation offering help, encouragement or just offering an ear to listen.

Kat attended Allegany College of Maryland earning her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was most recently employed by Heritage Care of Greencastle, Pennsylvania.

She was a member of Clayton Memorial Church of God of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. Kat enjoyed bowling, reading the bible and spontaneous road trips.

More than anything Kat cherished her family. She loved deeply and completely giving endlessly to those she held dear. Her family was her world, and she poured her heart into every role: daughter, sister and mother.

In addition to her mother Kat is survived by her children John Jarrett, Emmellia Reed, Trinity Cahill, Ari Cahill; brothers Jerry Berkstresser, Jeffrey Berkstresser, Clarence Harada; and many beloved extended family members and friends.

Friends may call at the Clayton Memorial Church of God: 6701 Charlestown Rd. Mercersburg, PA on SATURDAY February 28, 2026, from 11 AM to 12 PM with a celebration of life beginning promptly at 12. Interment will follow in Hartman Memorial Cemetery Hustontown, PA with Pastor Rachel Elkins officiating.
