Gerald Fleisher, 85 of Frederick passed away on Sunday July 9, 2017 at Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy.

Born May 6, 1932 in New York City he was the son of the late Hyman and Shirley nee Speiseisen Fleisher.

In addition to his parents Gerald is preceded in death by his sister Betty Fleisher Simon.

Gerald served his country honorably during the Korean War in the US Army earning the rank of sergeant.

Upon his discharge from the military Gerald became a teacher for the New York City Public School system from 1957 to 1987 where he taught high school history.

Gerald was a member of Congregation Kol Ami of Frederick, and Jewish War Veterans of America.

He enjoyed playing golf and watching baseball; but most importantly was a loving husband and good father.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife Rae Fleisher; his son Steven Fleisher and wife Barbara; grandchildren Joshua Lewis Fleisher, Andrew Broomhead and wife Colleen, and Jaclyn Orlich; great grandchildren Annabelle and Maggie Broomhead.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday July 11, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at Congregation Kol Ami (U.U.C) 4880 Elmer Derr Rd. Frederick, MD 21703 with Rabbi Simon Stratford officiating

Gerald's care has been entrusted to Black's Funeral Home of Thurmont.
