Frances Rita (Kelly) Messner, 100 of Thurmont, MD passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at her home in Thurmont, MD.

Frances was born November 16, 1922, in Thurmont, Maryland.

She was the daughter of the late Anna Wills & Joseph Kelly.

Frances was preceded in death by her Husband of 50 years, Ralph Messner and her sons Larry Messner and Ronald Messner. She is also preceded by the love of her life, Toby, her Pomeranian/mix dog, who was her companion for 19 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Sutton, (Paul), son David Messner (Sandy), daughter-in-law Marie Messner and 12 grandchildren: Brenda Woodby, Monica Messner, Teresa Snyder (Dwayne), Bryan Messner (Kasey), Ann Messner (Roy), Gene Messner (Anna), Michael Sutton (Faith), Donna Gebhart (Brian), Cecelia Hingley (Eric), Stephen Messner (Michelle), Sharon Orchard (Mark), and Kathy Messner. She is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren, and 2 more on the way. She is also survived by a special friend, Jackie Nunemaker, along with her last sibling, Theodosia Fernald.

Frances loved reading murder mysteries, especially Agatha Christy, listing to old country music, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She also loved her Family and the pictures of them posted on Facebook. She enjoyed watching the squirrels and hummingbirds and was a member of Saint Anthony's Church.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Frances's care has been entrusted to Blacks Funeral Home of Sabillasville, MD.
