Obituary

Born to Harvey and Vida Olinger in Dayton, Ohio where he was the 6th born out of seven siblings. He was known to his family and friends as Willie or Bill. The family moved to Lakewood, Colorado when he was 10. Bill remained in the Denver area for most of his adult life where he successfully ran his own carpet installation business for over 35 years. Bill then owned a restaurant/bar with his loving wife Shirley in Lakewood for approximately 10 years. They moved to Two Buttes in 1999 to help take care of his in-laws, where they passed in 2001. They remained in Two Buttes until Shirley passed away on May 31, 2018. Bill was forced to move to Maryland due to health issues, where his daughter Lisa Morris took care of him.

Bill was known for his outgoing personality. His friends in Two Buttes referred to him as Wild Bill. Later, in Maryland known as Pap, he was famous for his unique slap, tap, and slide slot machine technique. Bill spent the last couple years in an assisted living facility where his great personality shined as he would often play checkers and dominos with the other residents that had Parkinson's, to help them pass their time.

Bill was preceded in death by his siblings Ralph, Herman, Nancy, Louise and Jeanette. The remaining brother Elmer resides in Florida.

Bill and Shirley wed on October 5, 1963, after Bill served 4 years in the United States Army. He proudly served in Germany as a supply specialist. Bill and Shirley had two daughters, Lori and Lisa. Bill is survived by five grandkids, numerous great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Bill and Shirley were inseparable and after her passing, Bill bought a double urn to ensure the two would be together for eternity. That sums up his undying loyalty as a person.

Arrangements will be at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, 14205 Pleasant Valley Road NE, Flintstone, MD 21530, on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 2PM. Rev. Bethany Apelquist will be officiating.

Edward's care has been entrusted to Black's Funeral Home of Sabillasville, MD.
